Join Helen for an in depth exploration of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) for Vinyasa Flow yoga classes.
What are Sun Salutations?
Sun Salutations involve a fluid sequence of yoga postures (asana), joined together with precise transitions that follow the flow of breath.
They are typically included towards the beginning of each Vinyasa Flow session to help prepare the body and mind for the practice ahead, and are also used as linking movements (vinyasa) throughout the session. Done correctly, these movements are key for developing the sweet balance between strength and flexibility in the physical body, and they become a form of movement meditation for the mind.
This practical workshop is ideal for those with some previous yoga experience, who would like to join a Vinyasa Flow class for the first time, or have been attending Vinyasa Flow classes for a while, but would like to gain more confidence in their practice.
We will be breaking down each individual asana and transition, looking at healthy alignment, useful modifications for beginners or those working with injuries, as well as progressions for those with more experience. We will finish with a short Vinyasa Flow session, as an opportunity to try out your new found understanding.
There will be time for questions and feedback throughout the workshop.
